Well it has happened again, the sale of over five acres of undeveloped land for single family living, within spitting distance of downtown Qualicum Beach, for a measly $550,000!
Now I can appreciate half a million dollars is not chicken feed to most people, but let us examine the Vancouver Market compared to Vancouver Island. Without going into specifics, tell me where you can find five acres not in ALR, convenient to three major golf courses, an airport with direct flights to Vancouver, only a leisurely hour drive to Mount Washington for skiing and summer activities, miles of beaches for summer fun, one of the best located at Qualicum Beach and another close in Parksville, and host of Sandcastle Building events. Close by is the sheltered Port Alberni inlet for salt water fishing, or if fresh water is your thing, enjoy Horne Lake, Sproat Lake and Cameron Lake. Or just pop over to Tofino and Long Beach. Qualicum Beach Lawn bowling anyone?
Into shopping instead? Parksville has been growing and developing with rumours of Costco under construction shortly. Nanaimo is home to some of the largest malls including Woodgrove. And culture does not escape Qualicum Beach as we have enjoyed the Victoria Symphony, live theatre year round, and we are home to dozens of small hobbiest groups who welcome newcomers with open arms.Qualicum Beach has just marked completion of a beautiful Berwick Retirement home for those who wish to remain in our homey little stress free community, without doing the lawn.
Now for a measly $550,000 compared to Greater Vancouver prices, which seem to be in a declining mode, one can establish themselves here, grow with the community and retire knowing you have options. Did I forget to mention the weather, as compared to Vancouver, correct me if I am wrong, but we see half the rainfall.

No, we are not encouraging people to move to our sweet town, but as an enthusiastic resident who vacationed here as a child and moved here in 2014, I can not imagine living anywhere else. By the way, we are enjoying 5.22 acres only a couple of blocks from our ONE stoplight, home to Quality(Qualicum) Foods.
