But if you need to get away, West Jet connections are about 40 minutes away in Comox and Nanaimo, while Air Canada flights are accessed through the Nanaimo airport in Cassidy, just south of Nanaimo. Qualicum Beach also has our own small airport with daily connections to Vancouver. The BC Ferry ride to Vancouver is found at either Departure Bay or Duke Point in Nanaimo, or enjoy a trip down to Victoria and catch the ferry at Swartz Bay. There are also ferry connections to Washington, USA.  (2021 Covid adjustments)

The Gulf Islands are close at hand for enjoyable day trips while Tofino and Ucluelet are about a 2 hour drive away, as is Victoria. Excellent downhill and cross-country skiing is only about 50 minutes away in Mt Washington. In the winter season here, you can ski in the morning, then garden, walk the beach or trails, or perhaps even go sailing in the afternoon. The quality of life here really is quite exceptional.
